SUMMARY:
As a child, Grace was attacked wolves. Thus begins her fascination with the wolves of Border Woods, and one yellow-eyed wolf in particular, the one Grace believes saved her from the others. Every winter she spends her time watching him. Every summer he disappears. Then one day she hears shots in the woods, and she finds Sam--a boy with yellow eyes--on her porch, and he's wounded. As it turns out, Sam and Grace have known each other a long time. Same lives a double life. In summer he is human. But in winter, he lives as a wolf. Shiver is the first of the The Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy.
REVIEW:
I had heard so many great things about Shiver that I expected the book to practically explode when I opened it. The truth is, it moved a little slow in the beginning for me. I had a hard time getting into it. Werewolves and Vampires are not my favorite thing. But trusting my daughter's judgment (she absolutely loved it) I pressed on. And I have to say I'm glad I did. By the time the book ended, I was hooked. I can see why it has won so many awards and spent 40 weeks on the NYT Bestseller List. If you're already a fan of the Twilight series, then you'll love this book--especially if you're Team Jacob (In this book the wolf gets the girl!) I could have done without Sam and Grace giving in and having sex. Spoiled it a bit for me, but I don't care for that stuff in any book. If that doesn't bother you, and you love Beauty and the Beast type love stories, then this book is for you.
