BOOK REVIEW: JOURNEY OF WONDERS ANTHOLOGY

JOURNEYS OF WONDER
Ian Kezsbom, Lisa Gail Green, Leslie Rose
Fuzzbom Publishing
79 pp.

Journeys of Wonder is a new anthology of genre fiction. We’ve assembled three talented writers to bring you five chilling tales that are guaranteed to keep you up at night – or at least make you turn on the lights. Featured in this first volume: The Door: Six people are stuck in a room with no memory of how they got there while a fear of the unknown keeps them from opening the only exit they have. Blackout: A terrifying tale of a young woman whose memory is shattered and a creepy neighbor who is not all that he seems. Infinity: Two brothers, forced to travel through time to save the world from an unspeakable evil, have little idea of what they have actually gotten themselves into. Eye of the Wolf: A young girl struggles against the power of the full moon as she tries to hide her deadly secret from her family. Afterdeath: In a future where our journey beyond death is no longer a mystery, the promise of eternal love waits, unless you break the rules.

MY REVIEW:

This little volume packs a surprising punch of intrigue and supernatural suspense. The stories, while each unique and often unnerving, have a kind of Twilight Zone feel to them. They are skillfully written, and boast endings that you don't see coming. It is difficult to say which story I enjoyed most, but if I had to pin one down I'd have to say that "Blackout" gave me the creeps, especially the last line. Yikes! And that's a good thing.

With Halloween just around the corner, Journeys of Wonder is a "must read." And it's affordable, too! My only question is, when is volume 2 coming out? Well, if you're interested in the answer, check out the Journeys of Wonder blog. News of its release is coming soon.
