"L" IS FOR "LUCKY 7 GAME"

What is the Lucky 7 Game, you ask?

This began with Lissa Price, author of STARTERS (a new fantastic dystopian YA) who tagged 7 authors to play the game, and they've been tagging other authors. E.C. Myers, author of FAIR COIN ( a new fantastic fantasy YA) tagged me.

The way it works is this:

1. Go to the seventh or 77th page of our WIP (or latest book)
2. Count down 7 lines.
3. Copy the 7 sentences that follow and post them.
4. Tag 7 other authors.

So, I have to decide which of my many WIP from which to read, or to read from THE ROCK OF IVANORE. Hmmm...

Can't decide, so I'll post from both TROI and a WIP, a YA paranormal thriller called CONTACT.

First, THE ROCK OF IVANORE (p. 7):

Zyll went to his bookshelf, but he was not interested in the books. Instead he reached for a wooden chest, which he carried to the table and raised the lid. After sifting through its contents, he lifted something in his hand. Though Marcus could not tell what it was, the item was small enough to be hidden by the old man's fingers.

Zyll turned his gaze on Marcus, though his eyes seemed to look right through him. With a shake of his head, he remembered the task at hand and laid the object back inside the chest. After more sifting and searching, Zyll withdrew another small object and slammed the lid shut, sending a billow of dust into the air.

Now CONTACT (p. 7)

“I have no further comments at this time.”

A moment later, Jordan slips into the backseat of the car beside me and Mama. As he shuts the door, I catch a glimpse of the Colt 1911 pistol he carries beneath his jacket, not that I know much about hand guns. But this one’s his pride and joy, something he shows off whenever he has the chance. I don’t mind. Despite everything I’ve done to myself, I feel safer when he’s around.

Jordan tells the chauffeur to head out. “That wasn’t so bad, was it?” he says to me, brushing off the lapels of his suit coat.

Okay, so it's time to pass this game along. The 7 authors I am tagging are:

  1. I think this is such a fun meme! Great snippets from your WIPS! They seem very different, but both are intriguing.
