I'm so excited to share the good news! Author Ruta Sepetys won the CILIP CARNEGIE MEDAL for Best Children's writing for her historical novel SALT TO THE SEA.

I absolutely love Sepetys's books, and SALT TO THE SEA is honestly one of the best YA books all around. It is a fictionalized account of the tragic sinking of the German ocean liner Wilhelm Gustloff in 1945 where thousands of men, women, and children lost their lives. Sepetys's research for this and her other books is astounding, and the stories stick with you long after you've read the last pages.

Congratulations to Ruta!
